Marbella Options Weddings
Ceremonies
An important thing to know is that unless one of you is resident of the area or you are going to be married in the Catholic Church, you will be unable to be legally married in Spain.
What you can do is to have a very low-key civil wedding in your place of residence or even in Gibraltar and then come to Marbella for a Blessing. This Blessing can either be arranged through the Anglican Church in Spain or if you are of a different faith, we can arrange for the appropriate celebrant to officiate. In our experience this Blessing is just as meaningful and beautiful and in fact all of our clients take this date as the day on which they will celebrate their wedding anniversary. Another advantage of this option is that these Blessings can take place in beautiful settings, from a beautiful beachside location to the grounds of a wonderful hotel or villa.
Catholic Weddings
If one or both of you is Catholic and you wish to marry in the Catholic Church, the Bride and Groom must start the necessary paperwork in the Parish where they reside. You will have to choose the church in our area in which you would like to celebrate your wedding and then book the date with the relevant church office. You will be requested to provide certain supporting documentation (certified copies of Official Baptismal Certificates which must not be older that 6 months - photocopies of Birth Certificates - Certificate of Marriage Guidance Preparation Course - Letter of Freedom to marry in the Catholic Church, all of which must be translated into Spanish and stamped with the Apostle stamp) and the date, time and parish of the proposed wedding. The complete set of documents must be sent via your local Bishopric directly to the Bishopric in Malaga, This complete set of documents must be sent no later than 5 months prior to the actual wedding date. Should one of the couple not be Catholic, a Dispensation has to be obtained via their local Priest and Bishopric.
Jewish Weddings
You will have had to have a civil wedding in your own country beforehand. We can arrange for a Rabbi of your choice to conduct the Blessing under the Huppa, we can also offer you a choice of Chazans.
Other Religions
We will always be happy to work with you to provide exactly the right officiant for your needs.
If you would prefer to have a Blessing conducted by a spiritual leader or by a good and trusted friend, this is of course possible, but you would have to have a civil wedding in your country of residence beforehand.
Gibraltar Weddings
We can arrange for your wedding in the Gibraltar Registry Office and advise on the legalities.
